   1999-2005 I was co-creator and a partner of Studio North Photography. Prior to this I spent many years as a photographer and darkroom technician for corporations, local newspapers, publishing houses and in the U.S. Air force.

   The portaits on this page are the property of Studio North, many of which I took while at Studio North and all of which I was a part of creating, as well as creating the composites you see on this page, We created all our outdoor settings and indoor scenes.

   Since leaving Studio North I have not done much portrait work, preferring to focus on landscapes and mixed media art prints. I no longer have an on-site portrait "studio". During my time with Studio North I found that I really enjoyed shooting outdoors with available light, that I preferred to be the photographer off to the side of the "action" looking for that spontaneous moment and I was always thrilled to create more settings at our studio and I'm great with props!

    I spent many years working in darkrooms and when photography went digtital I, like many who had been trained in the field, found it to be a strange transition... Since then though, I find I love the flexibilty that digital phtotogrpahy offers, and the options to be creatve are endless! Though, it would be sweet to find a photographic darkroom in my future. (O:

I've also not shot any weddings since leaving Studio North, although I did enjoy them, I found that shooting with a partner made the whole experience really smooth for everyone involved. We were fortunate that as a team we worked well togther and we each liked different aspects of the job.

I'm not sure if I would shoot a wedding at present, it would depend primarily on my relationship with the Bride & Groom and also event size and location.

I pretty much have a camera on me at all times, neighbors usually meet me for the first time as they ask me what I am doing in their field or parked near their driveway... I live in the country, and whenever I see something I feel drawn to, which is often the wonderful sky, weather, water, wildlife and hills that surround me, that's what I am "shooting". 

   While we had the studio, I enjoyed having people bring their animal companions in for portraits. I sort-of "promoted" it actually, I love meeting new dog and cat people!
